Dear ALL:

As previously announced, the conference "The Retrospect and The Outlook

Taiwanese American groups, will be held in San Diego, CA, 2/20-23, 1997

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank many of you who showed interest
and inquired about the conference program, registration options, and
transportation etc. Here are some latest informations, which hopefully will

(Registration Options)
Registrations are in three categories :
(1) $250, including room (double occupancy) and all meals
(2) $100, meals only
(3) discount for students only, $100 for room and meals but may require
4 persons to share a room.

In addition, to facilitate some of students who can't get off school in time
but can find their own lodging, we'll also offer a new option which is $50
for registration plus $10 per meal. Note that the option of $100 for
students is already a "deeply below-cost deal". We'd like to encourage
students of diversified backgrounds to attend the whole conference and
interact with others, as they are the hope for Taiwan's future....

(Meals)
Although 2/20 is mostly a day for registration, it is recommended to arrive
on 2/20 as the conference will start at 8:00 in the morning. All meals will
be provided by the hotel (sorry, no mouth-watering Taiwanese food). On
2/20, only a light snack will be served in the evening. Excluding the snack
on 2/20, there will be 8 meals in total.

(Lodging)
The conference will be held at Holiday Inn (Bayside), 4875 N. Harbor
Drive, San Diego, CA. We will like to accommodate everyone at the same
hotel, unless the number of attendees is beyond our projection and the
hotel's capacity. Additionally, if you don't request a specific roommate (or
roommates for students), we'll try our best to arrange someone to share the
room with you, based on smilar background and same gender, of course.

(Transportaion)
Holiday Inn (Bayside) is very close to the San Diego airport, and they
provide shuttle services. When arriving at the airport, you can simply use
the courtesy phones there to call the hotel to pick you up. Please note that
this is the Holiday Inn at Bayside (in case there are more than one). Also,
I was told that there are two (East and West) terminals at the airport. You
will need to tell the hotel which terminal you are at so that they can locate
you. If you can't find a courtesy phone...then remember to bring the hotel's
number (Tel: 619-224-3621) with you and use a pay phone.
